22 years go by fast

ImageLast Saturday, October 13th, we celebrated the 22nd birthday of my daughter, Elisha. Really, did 20 years pass by while I was sleeping?  I remember her as a baby. She wasn’t very patient then. My son, would get up early in the morning and come in to my room.  He could lay there for an hour or so, playing with his cars or action figures. But my daughter, she was a different story. Once she was up, she wanted you to be up too. She would whine and complain until I knew that it was hopeless to try and stay in bed. She wanted her breakfast and wanted it now!

She pretty much always knew what she wanted and was a great planner in getting it done. She reminded me that it was 10 years ago, on her birthday, that we went and purchased her first pair of toe shoes. She and her dance friends worked real hard to get to a point where their teacher felt they were ready for the new experience. So on her birthday, we drove to the dance store and made the purchase. I was proud of her and the work she had done to get to that point, and of course, watched with pride as she used the shoes to dance through the years.

I am still proud of her today. I watch as she plans and executes that plan. She works hard at her jobs and is well liked by the people she works with. She is married to a wonderful guy who appreciates her talents and strengths. Happy Birthday to my sweet daughter, Elisha. Hope your next 22 years is joyful.

Saturday night, we hosted the women of our extended family on a girls night out, while the men attended Priesthood meeting. I had thought that we could make Halloween cards to send to our family that lives out of state. I gathered together all my Halloween stickers, papers, punches, etc. in hopes that it would inspire the women to create. But alas, no one wanted to craft, but me.

Here are a few samples of the cards from that night:

My favorite card of the night. Alex, our second grade wizard made this card. He actually took some of my foam stamps apart and glued them to his little pumpkin pad. He carefully printed Happy Halloween on it. So fun.

Real old stickers. I found these in my old sticker notebook. I think my neighbors living in Oregon would appreciate it, none the less.

Some more easy Halloween cards using some fun stickers.

So even though we didn’t mass produce Halloween cards for family and friends, I was able to make enough to send out to my out-of-town family and neighbors. Even though these aren’t the most artistic cards, it is really the thought that counts, right????
